Lynn Palumbo is an artist and educator living in upstate New York. Working in mixed media she uses experimental formats informed by a background in painting, printmaking, bookforms and calligraphy. She teaches art foundations at Dutchess Community College where she also served as director of the art gallery.

I’m interested in observation of and connection to the sentient, dailiness of life. Natural forms, vernacular architecture, domestic artifacts, high or low artforms; anything can be a possible resource. It’s the act of perception and its fragmentation through visual memory that I wish to catch as much as the objects seen. Contemplation of those observed forms through the material process results in serial variations as patterns are established and improvised with.

The initial investigation of those forms through drawing and photography suspends them in their present state for study. But all of life is in flux and the mixed media work seems to partake of that reality, resulting in composite, layered images.
